The Diamond Building

You'll get to study in the Diamond building, our largest-ever investment in teaching and learning. The building has specific chemical engineering laboratories and also holds our Pilot Plant where you can test simulations and control systems in a safe product environment.
The Diamond Pilot Plant

The Diamond Pilot Plant (DiPP)

DiPP is the cornerstone for educating the Sheffield Chemical Engineer. The plant has three cutting edge integrated manufacturing processes at a pilot scale. DiPP has software and products sponsored by major industrial companies including, GEA, Solaris Biotech and NiTech and is also used to upskill employees of UK companies.

Analytics Laboratory

The Analytics Laboratory has a wide range of equipment that allows the characterisation of gas and liquid mixtures. It also host the continuous crystallizer, a key competent in our undergraduate curriculum.
Thermodynamics lab

Thermodynamics Laboratory

This laboratory equips you with the practical understanding and experience involved with the modern engineering concept of energy efficiency.

Bioanalytical Facility

This laboratory is a custom built, well-equipped analytical facility for Proteomic workflows for protein and peptide analysis and characterisation of nucleic acids, nucleosides and other metabolites.
